Ireland 2026 — 14 Days on the Emerald Isle
The ancestral pull has been building for years. This is the trip — a 14-day deep dive into the country that shaped part of who I am. Not a tourist loop, but a real exploration: time in Dublin to feel the city's pulse, then west toward the Wild Atlantic Way where the roads narrow and the Atlantic hammers the cliffs.
Connemara is on the list — the wild, bog-covered landscape that looks like the end of the world and feels like a beginning. Galway for the music, the food, the craic. Then south to Cork and the harbor towns before the journey ends. Every mile planned with intention, but room left for the unplanned.
Past Adventures
Closer to Home
Not every adventure requires a passport. Wisconsin and the Midwest have more to offer than most people give them credit for.
Local Exploration
Wisconsin's Hidden Gems
From Door County's limestone cliffs and cherry orchards to the Apostle Islands' sea caves, the Dells' sandstone canyons, and Madison's vibrant isthmus — Wisconsin rewards the curious traveler who bothers to look past the surface.

Road Trips Across the Midwest
The Midwest is made for road trips — big skies, honest towns, and distances that invite thinking. From Chicago's architecture to the Boundary Waters to the rolling Driftless Area, there's more road worth driving here than most people know.
Ireland · 2023 & 2025
Already Pulled Back Twice
The 2026 trip is the big one — but it's not the first time Ireland has called. Two earlier trips confirmed what the ancestral pull always suggested: this place is different.
The 2025 trip covered Connacht and the west coast. Ireland 2026 goes deeper — more time, more miles, more of the country that keeps pulling back.
Beyond Ireland
Other Horizons
Not every road leads to Ireland. Some lead to the Caribbean, the desert, the Boundary Waters, or just down the lakeshore.
Cayman Islands
Turquoise water, reef diving, and the kind of stillness that only comes when you're surrounded by ocean. A hard contrast to a Wisconsin winter.
Southern California
The Pacific coast has a light unlike anywhere in the Midwest — warm, flat, and wide open. Orange County to Newport Beach, with desert heat just an hour inland.
Boundary Waters
A million acres of lakes and portages on the Minnesota-Canada border. No motors, no roads — just water, sky, and whatever you can carry in a canoe.
Nevada Desert
The Mojave at sunrise has a color palette unlike anything in the Midwest — terracotta, rust, and a sky that goes on forever. A reminder of how big the country actually is.
Lake Michigan Shoreline
The Great Lakes get overlooked as travel destinations. They shouldn't be — the shoreline near Sheboygan and Milwaukee has some of the best sunset light in the Midwest.
